hello, please check in firefox > options > advanced > network > connection - settings... if firefox is set up to directly connect to the internet ('no proxy').

Hi Philipp, Thank you so much for the quick fix! I have another problem I hope you can help me with. Now when I click on "email link" in firefox , windows live mail comes up instead of gmail. Windows live mail doesn't work properly to begin with. Can this be fixed? Hope so...Thanks for being so smart and helpful! Sincerely, Donna
