I'm running Windows XP (SP 3) and I recently updated Firefox. It was working fine, but today it's crashing constantly, like, every ten minutes or so.

I've tried running it in Safe Mode, resetting it, checking to see if my plugins are out of date, nothing is working.

Here are the latest crash reports that I'm getting:

hello Kyrael, these crashes all seem to happen when there is very high memory usage on the system. please see if a reset of the browser can address the issue: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

I've tried that already, it keeps happening.

I should note that I only have one or two tabs open at a time. I don't know what's suddenly eating up my memory.

when you open the windows task manager (with ctrl+shift+esc) and go to the processes tab, does it give any indication if the high memory usage is caused by firefox itself or by other programs running?

Whoa, yes, Firefox is using 146, 016 Ks of memory, that's waaaaaaaay more than any of my other programs. (The next highest program is about 10,000 K).

Is there a way to fix it?

actually this is a very normal & low value for a modern browser. however, according to the crash reports something is eating up all the 1GB of ram when the crashes happen...

I removed some programs and turned off some applications that work in the background (like Steam) and it seems to have helped, but I have no idea if that was what was causing the problem in the first place.
