What do I do when my Firefox profile is missing or inaccessible?
HP support helped me resolve an overheating issue with my Notebook laptop by remotely connecting to my laptop. Now I can't start Firefox. It says it is already running but it's not and I keep getting the missing profile error. I am using my cell phone to send this since I have no browser for internet access.

You can use the Windows Task Manager to end all Firefox processes and then try starting Firefox.
Read this article for that: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-already-running-not-responding#w_end-firefox-processes
You should be able to load this page on your phone's browser.
Have you also tried restarting the notebook? Restarting the laptop will close down all programs that are open as well as ones stuck in memory. Let us know if any of this helps.
Thanks for the reply. In my explanation, I should have said that I have tried stopping Firefox thru the task mgr but it doesn't show up anywhere. I've shut down my laptop many times too. This has been going on for days. I guess I need to find out how to either refresh Firefox or create a new profile. I've tried refreshing, restarting with disabled add-ons, and starting Firefox in safe mode; nothing works! Do you know if there is a support phone number I could call so I could have someone talk me thru getting it fixed? Thank you for any help you can give me!
I understand. I just don't know what to do.
Do you have Windows on your laptop? It should have Internet Explorer installed by default. All Windows computers come with it. You should be able to use that for the time being until we can sort this out.
You can also try uninstalling Firefox thru Control Panel > Uninstall a Program. But make sure to leave the box that wants to erase your profile data unchecked. If you don't see this checkbox, don't worry about it. They might have removed this option. Then you can download a new copy of Firefox using Internet Explorer. Hopefully this will work.
Download Firefox from: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/

Hello
try to delete the profiles.ini file (or rename it to profiles.iniOLD ) in firefox profile folder path and see if that allows to start firefox (with a new profile).
