I am having a problem on my Win8 machine tonight, I see the check function running and it doesn't stop. It is not a connectivity issue as I was able run this function tonight from same home network on my Mac OSX 10.9 that didn't have Adobe Flash with Firefox latest version.

Technical details: Win8.1 Firefox 35.0.1 Adobe Flash Player 16 NPAPI v16.0.0.305 Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.250.6 Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U25 6.0.250.6 (Disabled)

What I've tested so far: 1) Started FF in safe mode, tried plugin check, results never loaded 2) Removed extensions, tried plugin check, results never loaded 3) Permitted Java to run on this site, results never loaded 4) Verified Adobe Flash is functioning versus http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ 5) I usually keep Adobe Flash security permissions locked down as much as possible, so things can't put crap cookies on my machine without explicit permission. I've tweak various settings to make the security level more permissive. Plugin check still didn't work.

What are the minimum techincal requirements for the plugin check feature to work? If this is indeed an Adobe Flash issue, why does this feature work on the Mac that doesn't have AF installed, but not on the Windows machine? What more detail is needed from my end to figure out what might be happening?

hello Agent_Vanilla, please try the following: go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > plugins, set the "java deployment toolkit" to never activate and then try to use the plugincheck page again...

Thanks philipp, that configuration change allowed me to run the plugin check successfully.

Unfortunately, it appears that having both Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.250.6 and Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U25 6.0.250.6 disabled, prevented the plugin checker from providing the ability to update these two plugins.

How do you update a plugin when they are deactivated in order to get the plugin checker to work?

it's a bug in the plugincheck site that needs to be figured out on the server side by mozilla's webdevelopers.

however the java version number you've referenced is out of date - please go to java.com and download the newest version offered there (but be aware, they try to "sell" you the ask toolbar during the setup - you should decline this offer) or if you don't have any use for the plugin in the first place, then remove it from the system's control panel...
