So it sounds like maybe you are having a few issues here.

As far as the homepage goes, perhaps another program on your computer changed the Firefox homepage or maybe you did so unintentionally. The home page can be changed back to AOL from the Firefox settings page. See How to set the home page for more information.

It also sounds like you have a website or page that you aren't able to close for some reason. Is it a specific page that's stuck open?

Also, if you are having issues with part of the Firefox interface not appearing properly, it's best if you can provide a screenshot of your problem so that we can see exactly what you are seeing.
