bold text'I am so fed up with these updates loosing my passwords and data, why ? All my settings are messed up and last time it took two weeks to get everything back, why? I give up total idiots for releasing updates that are sub par!

With the "Open previous windows and tabs" preference checked on a PC (don't know if Mac or other has this issue), if you had multiple windows open, closing all of them at once via "Close all windows" in the Firefox app's Tasks menu on the taskbar (with multiple windows open, right click the Firefox app on the taskbar to open the Tasks menu, then click "Close all windows"; if only one window open, it'll say something singular instead of plural), it used to be so that when you try to reopen Firefox, all your multiple previous windows would reopen. Instead, it now only reopens one of them, I think maybe the last window you were looking at.

Now you could try to reopen the other windows via the History -> Recently closed windows, but that's assuming that the other windows are saved onto there, because it seems that there are times when they are no longer saved there.

I'm not sure this is for sure the reason why it's no longer in History anymore, but my place has had some electrical work being done by the city outside, so twice there have been notices given that the power would be shut off within a short period, meaning twice my PC was shut off within that short period. My guess is that after it shut off the first time, I had that short period of time to reopen the other closed Firefox windows because it was indeed saved in History, but I didn't notice that Firefox didn't reload ALL of the windows - only one. So when the power shut off a second time, that history was lost. This is just a guess - maybe Firefox auto deletes it after some time, idk. But mine are no longer there, so fml I guess.

I also tried sessionstore-backup, but the earliest one was within the last 2 weeks and the other windows still were not in the History.

Is there some second Preference checkbox option that needs to be checked, or can y'all change it back to what it was before?

My firefox app on my laptop was behaving awkwardly. so i uninstalled and reinstalled it. now all my settings are gone even after i sign into my firefox account using my email. How to I restore all by browser history setting, passwords saved etc?

All your answers are wordy, confusing+never take into account that many users are not 15. You assume every user knows what you write. Instead of answering the question by giving a user step by step marching order, you write endless stuff giving the users a headache.

see above... i do not like what ever you did to my firefox opening page yesterday, i lost the top right marker that opened all my bookmarks which i had a bookmark for my email now that is gone so i can not get my email. I am not a fan of this new change. All my bookmarks are gone when I open Firefox. I want to see the news and not this; it's hard to find anything. The old Firefox I had two days ago was just fine. Someone always has to change something to make things harder for us old people.

After an unwanted and un-needed update, all my tabs closed and I can't find them again. Then after rolling the browser back to a previous version, now all of my bookmarks are gone. I want them back where are they on the hard drive.

My bookmark toolbar items have disappeared. When I click on the drop-down toolbar menu item it tells me the folder is empty. When I try to rebuild the toolbar bookmarks list it doesn't function. The toolbar doesn't respond.How can I get all my toolbar bookmarks back?

Yeah looks like some how i deleted my bookmarks. Not sure how l, then when I went restore them it tells me there are no restore point to gey ot from. I need those book marks for work so I hope some can help me. This is on my pc.

2 days ago, on 02.05,2026, I was logged out of all my accounts on every website in Mozilla. My history was erased, passwords not saved, but I'm still logged in. That only happened on Firefox, not the rest of my computer.

I am afraid it was a virus or something - can you tell me why it happened?

This problem has been covered in this forum before. However, the various solutions have not worked for me because it seems my backup previous.jsonlz4 was corrupted. I did exit Firefox normally, but I am not sure because I have been using multiple different browsers in recent months.

This is what happened this morning: my Firefox on Mac OSX was closed normally, and I rebooted the MacBook. Afterwards, I could not restore old tabs because "Recently Closed Tabs" and "Recently Closed Windows" are greyed out.

I tried copying recovery.jsonlz4 from the last folder and putting it into the main folder as sessionstore.jsonlz4, then reopening Firefox. Still have no restored tabs. Here was the surprise, which I do not know how to interpret.

I just checked some files and found this error message in sessionrestore-logs folder:

Every time I open my PC I get message - Firefox update available. Ignored it for awhile, the foolishly clicked "update." Got a new "profile" and lost all of my saved and autofill passwords but four. Makes logging in to frequently used sites almost impossible, extremely inconvenient. I do not want a new "profile." Need to recover-go back to the version I had before "updating."

firefox up to date, only 1 profile used used to have aio sidebar, but for the past years sidebar changed & could not save, reorder nor change bookmarks tried 2 newer sidebar plugin & lost all my bookmarks cant import from saved bookmark htlm file nor import from gmail settings (attachement); how to resolve? is there a plug in I shud invest time populating instead of wasting time

Dell desktop running Mint Mate 22. Bookmarks missing about 50% of bootups. Saved bookmarks to both HTML and JSON during an occasion they did appear, when they next were missing attempted to restore them via Library pop-up (Manage bookmarks). I could not determine a path to direct the system to either locally saved file. In Library, selected Restore, which then asks me to choose file, but none of the data fields accepted or acted upon input. re-installed Firefox but same result. Then clicked on the saved HTML file, multiple screens flashed on the display, with multiple items in the tray. The final result was the bookmarks were all displayed as expected, but since the problem has been inconsistent, unknown whether they will display on future bootups.

Wish to have guidance on using the Library pop-up to restore saved bookmarks when they are missing. Perhaps some knowledgeable user could post a step-by-step through the restore process.
