How can I get this stupid Mapneto pop up add off my FFox browser on Mac OSX? It shows "deleted" in Extensions, but now when I open a tab a download ad appears

Had never seen these pop up pages before I tried to delete the Mapneto tool bar, now every time I open a tab or a link up pops this stupid "download completed" come-on ad which is monstrously annoying. Short of dumping Firefox and re installing, what else can be done? My "block pop ups" box is checked, too, and it does not work...I see other popups all the time. thanks.

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

You can do a search on the about:config page for this domain and reset related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default value.

MapNeto toolbar is installed as an application.

Goto application folder and find the "MapNeto toolbar" and remove it

Friggin pop up appeared as I write this; thanks for the reply, but there is no such application (unless they stash it under an alias of some kind) in my Appls file. Did a search, too, for Mapneto, with no results. This thing is hiding somewhere, I agree. Any other thoughts? thx c

If needed, you can also delete a user.js file which may be hijacking the newtab url, for how to do this see the How to fix preferences that won't save article.

Thanks. Those instructions are way above my pay grade. What I wound up doing was having to reset FFox settings, and at least for now, seems have made this annoyance go away. Many thanks
