My computer died a couple days ago. Resurrected another machine we had here. None of my regular sites look right or work quite right. It was an older version of firefox, I updated it, still didn't work right, yesterday I totally uninstalled it including settings, history, etc. Reinstalled from scratch today, still not working right. I cleared my cache, and checked all the settings mentioned on the help page, all are correct. I tried Chrome and I hate it! Please Help!

First, try to reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. This simple step will eliminate many Firefox problems with only one click.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL

Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Thank you tyler, but none of the above worked. I downloaded service pack updates, after taking 30+ minutes to download, tried to install it. It said the service pack that's installed is newer than the one I just downloaded directly from microsoft, so no need to install it.

I updated and installed all the recommended plugins.

The graphics card is fine and up to date. I installed PC Update Driver Alert, it scanned all the drivers and said all drivers were up to date.

I tried reset firefox, that didn't do anything either.

What is meta stream? I just had a warning pop up that it could cause instability and that it is blocked, and wanted me to restart firefox. Don't know if that is somehow related???

I didn't run malwarebytes yet, but I've been using Chrome since yesterday, and it's working just fine. No sign of any bugs or problems. I just don't like it, and want my firefox back....lol

This machine hadn't been used in at least a year, possibly closer to two. It's my hubby's old one. Firefox never did work right on this machine, he gave up and quit trying and went back to IE.

Any other suggestions? I'm getting desperate, I really don't like chrome or IE, and I've used firefox for years with no problems. Please and thank you!
