my escan protection software deletes the exe file as soon as it is downloaded saying that it has a virus in it.. can you please confirm that the file you have on link "http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/" is genuine and virus free?

Why are you not using our latest version Firefox 7?
Firefox 3.6.x is still supported with security updates and Firefox 3.6.23 is the latest, so there is currently no need to update if you want to stay with Firefox 3.6 versions.
But I assume that you have the problem with downloading the latest Firefox 7.0.1 version.
You can verify the integrity via a MD5 or SHA1 check.
