I have removed the Yahoo MP3 Tube Toolbar from my extensions but it is still rooted in my Firefox somehow.

Every time I start Firefox, the Keyword.URL is set to "http://mp3tubetoolbar.com/?prt=mp3tubetbe&Keywords="

I right click and reset it and it will go back to Google, which I want it to do. But the next time I open up Firefox, it takes me to the mp3tubetoolbar.com results.

Have you looked in Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs to see if you can remove it there? Only remove what you can definitely identify as the toolbar.

      • Follow the prompts for updating
      • If this method works for you, skip the "Download complete installer" section below and proceed to "After the installation" below

Thank you for pointing out that I needed to update some of my software -- I went ahead and did that.

As for preferences, I tried everything those two sites offered and none of them solved the problem. I did find a user.js file that contained information on the mp3tubetoolbar. I went ahead and erased the information and saved the txt file but that didn't do the trick, so I deleted the whole user.js file. That also didn't work.

I then deleted the prefs script file but when I restarted, the mp3tubetoolbar was still the default.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

That didn't do anything...
