I have followed the instructions on the Mozilla website but am unable to delete my browsing history. I recently had a power outage and had to have my pc data reinstalled by a computer specialist. would reinstalling Firefox sort my problem?

Reinstalling won't help you. Try to open about:support page and click the Verify integrity button in the Places database section. It should produce a log, you can paste it here for analysis.
