every time i go to open a link it puts me in a new tab, even trying to use the original way of changing the preferences in the browser itself doesn't work, it either opens a new window or new tab. i dont like new tabs or new windows created while searching or opening links, please help :/

never mind i have figured it out, using the browser.link.open_newwindow and browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction, i almost lot my mind doing this, set browser.link.open_newwindow to 1 and set browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction 0 or 1
