I have the box ticked in Settings for previous tabs to be installed on Startup but it isn't happening although it used to. I was trying to get rid of caches (what are they?) and must have done something.

Thank you for the above but I found a suggestion of refreshing Firefox and that did the trick.

Hello,

First, please check if your privacy settings allow restoring previous session:

  1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  3. In the History section make sure that the Firefox will drop-down menu is set to either "Remember history" or "Use custom settings for history".
    • If Firefox will is set to "Use custom settings for history", then make sure that Always use Private Browsing mode is not checked.
    • If Firefox will is set to "Use custom settings for history" and Clear history when Firefox closes is checked, then click the Settings button and make sure that Browsing & download history is not checked.
  4. Close the Settings page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

Looking forward to your update!

I didn't want to start with that advice as it leads to loosing some customizations. Anyway, I'm glad it helped!
