Dark mode for mozilla.org
How do we convince Mozilla to add dark mode? It's a simple thing, and quite popular today.
I'm referring to Firefox on Desktop, but on Android, before the dark mode revolution, I would to root my phones to control the silly bright screens - it was a lot of work - but worth it. I still avoid apps that refuses to comply with popular and sensible dark mode.
The bright background fixation is due to people growing up writing on white paper... they don't get that it's silly - staring at a flashlight - or 1920x1080 flashlights. I started computers in command line days - dark was default. Then came blinding Windows - many years of blinding nonsense. Finally, in the last 10 years, while most tech has enabled dark mode, MOZILLA is a huge disappointing exception. Why?

You got me - I was not clear - The issue is with the support.mozilla, and the other restricted sites.
I do know how to adjust settings... lol.

Hey xoferif, thanks for finding those threads explaining the lack of Dark mode on this site.
I thought of this for a long while and I remembered many years ago that support.mozilla.org did not have a blinding white background. It was a very dull blue/grey background, that while not my favorite color, was infinitely better than a bright white background. My idea is just to bring back a darker background gradient/image/whatever that can be applied site wide. Maybe even selectable by a small menu to choose the current theme and the darker theme. I think our site developers might be much more wiling to go for that option. Since apparently making a entire site have a dark mode is too tough since there's extra complexities that they need to account for. And they don't have enough manpower to dedicate to fixing this specific issue and the one that's being worked on for all Mozilla sites.
Waiting for Mozilla to implement Dark Mode for all their websites on their own isn't going to happen in either of our lifetimes. So my thinking is to come up with a creative, doable solution. Btw god bless Bugzilla for creating Dark Mode many years ago. It even had multiple colored themes you could choose from. But Bugzilla may be easier to theme for since it may not be as complex as Mozilla's other sites.
I even discovered that Developer.mozilla.org has a Dark Mode theme & a Theme switcher button at the top of the page. Shoutout to Anutrix @ Dark theme for mozilla.org and addons.mozilla.org for discovering this.
Back in 2017, someone even tried to create a CSS style for Dark Mode on SUMO. It might still work. https://github.com/overdodactyl/SUMO-Dark
Anyway, whenever I make my proposal for this in Github, I will link it here. Keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't get rejected outright. I have some hope it can be done.
