Images not loading for one website - they say its a Firefox issue (Forumotion)
I regularly use a forum called The Dark City. its a gaming thing. They are hosted by Forumotion, who host their images in servimg.com.
For the pasts everal months, the site's own images have not been loading. It looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/YqRN7lp.png with no icons, background, banners, etc. Nothing. However, embedded images in posts DO still appear. As do adverts, as seen in the pic.
I am using Firefox, fully updated, on Mac, OS also fully updated. I use AVG as an anti-virus, and have no ad-blockers. I have cleared my caches several times, and gone through every permission on every possibly relevant page I could find, and nothing I can see if blocking anything from any of the three sites involved. I have also done thee same going through AVG to check for blocks, and even now have it disabled including firewalls, and the problem persists. Though oddly when I clear the cache for the forum page, I get SOME of the forum's images. And then the first time a cookie is loaded it all goes to pot again. And of course, its not happening with any other webstie I visit. Just Forumotion forums (including their own support forum).
I've been having the run around with Forumotion's support team to try to find a solution, and they keep coming back and saying its a browser issue. Except that its happening in other browsers I try as well, and regardless would prefer to keep using Firefox is theres a fix.
As I understand, the most up to date version of Firefox removed the ability to set permissions for image loading, making it default or set by the domain itself.
So I'm at a complete loss, and in need or msarter minds than mine.

Can your browsers reliably load and reload the images directly, or in other words, is the issue only with embedded images?

My browser is loading those images correctly when looked for independently, yes. But when I open the page, they don't load where they should. Nor do any user avatars. Note for clarification though - this issue is only effecting the images used by the forum itself. Their own banner, etc. Its not effecting images that users embed in their own posts. Also, apparently, this is only happening to me, and not to other users of the forum.
To investigate further, could you open the Network Monitor tool in the lower part of the tab (other browsers have a similar tool when you press F12). Either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Web Developer > Network
- (menu bar) Tools > Web Developer > Network
- (MacOS) Command+Alt+e
When you reload the page (Ctrl+r Command+r), Firefox should start listing all the files it is requesting, along with information about whether the request was successful. For "Success" results (code 200) there is a column indicating which ones were retrieved from cache.
Are there a lot of failures, or does the retrieval step seem to be working normally?

Majority successes with three or four failures out of 55. Of the failures, its labelling them as known trackers.

Are the blocked images from servimg or some other site? It would be strange for anti-tracking to be applied inconsistently.
Meanwhile, there's a Console tab nearby that usually lists out any messages about Firefox intentionally blocking content.
I'm only currently seeing two failures - one being a marketing tracker (criteo) failed on a 302, and the other is named maxns.net. That one is a 204, which seems to keep repeating every 20 seconds or so (faiing each time). Neither are sercimg. All of the servimg ones seem to coming through fine on 200s.
The only two bein blocked at criteo on a 302 code (checked, its marketing) and maxns, which seems to keep repeating every 20 seconds or so and failing with a 304 code.
It seems under the console that there a few things being blocked as well:

Hi Steve, these cookie-related and style-related items don't sound like blocked images.
The Push API error probably is because you haven't granted the site permission to show notifications. I don't think a site would require that to serve images.
Could you try:
New Profile Test
This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test your problem site(s).
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like July2020, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.
After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Launch profile in new browser button.
Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test.
Does the forum page load images in the new profile? Any change on the second visit/reload?
When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (July2020 will remain available for future testing.)
IMPORTANT: Creating a new profile may change your default. If your regular profile has a Set as Default Profile button after this test, click that to make sure your next startup doesn't yield a surprise.
Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

That suggests the problem most likely is a setting, add-on, or data issue and not a systemwide filter.
In your regular profile, any difference in a private window?

Hmm, I can't think of a setting to show both the image AND its alt text. Did the page layout change to have two image tags rather than one?
Did you try Safe Mode in the old profile ?
