I am using MAC OS X version 10.9.2 and about a week ago, after I downloaded an extension called Video Downloaded, I noticed that new tabs started opening up with ads without my permission. Since that was the only extension I had installed I removed it and reset Firefox. But that didn't work. Over the past few days it got worse. So I have been following the information on the Firefox threads, and I followed the steps to:

Reset Firefox: Which didn't fix the issue. Uninstalled Firefox, and all Folders under Libary: That didn't work. I used the MAC malware program ClamXav: That found nothing. And every time I reinstalled Firefox back up, the new tab opening up with ads started to get more frequent. Like every two minutes. I also reset my DNS with OpenDNS.com to make it more secure: But that didn't work.

I don't have this issue using Safari, or Chrome on my MAC, just Firefox. Any solutions or suggestions to resolve this would be really appreciated.

Hi rogerbose,

Thank you for your question, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=883824 is the bug for keeping track of Mavericks compatibility. You can delete the user profile if there are any left over files, however the pop up feature in the Preferences > Content should have the pop up box checked, is this true?

The Profile folder is located easily with the add on Open Profile Folder.
