Hi there. Simon here. Yesterday Google asked me to change my Gmail account password and unfortunately now I cannot send emails via Thunderbird (but I can receive them into Thunderbird). I have the SMTP password sorted but may need to add in a nother pw too? I contacted Google and they estbalisedh this is not a problem at their end. Thanks if someone could help me? I can send via Gmail webmail but not the Thunderbird client - this is a problem for me. Many thanks Simon

This usually happens when cookies aren't allowed in TB Options/Privacy. Check that cookies are enabled, remove passwords from Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, check that the authentication is OAuth2 for the incoming and outgoing servers, then restart TB and enter your password in the OAuth browser window when prompted. Disable a VPN if there is one.

I changed the authentication to 'passwords' and it enabled me to send e mail from Thunderbird. I have to input the password at the beginning of the session.
