Most of the emails in my inbox have disappeared leaving only very old ones from 2008 and before. All other folders (trash, sent, etc) are ok as well as all of the subfolders in my inbox. The subfolders include emails as of yesterday and before.

I have deleted the .msf file to have it recreated but that doesn't solve the problem.

However, if I look at the content of the inbox.mozmsgs file or do a global search within Thunderbird, the missing emails from my inbox appear to be referenced there.

Although I can't be sure, I think this may have happened after/during a compact folders operation as my computer crashed at some point today. This may have occurred during the compaction or afterwards.

Any suggestions on how to retrieve the missing emails?
