You can look at this extension to adjust the font size and font family for the user interface.

I don't know of a way to change the background colors in the user interface apart from using a different theme.
You can also try to search for code in userChrome.css to style the background color.

You can look at this extension to restore the Add-ons bar, so you can have icons on the toolbar.

I got it so screwed up I can't even see anything. The addon bar worked. But the theme and font changer just got me all messed up. Then I TRIED the classic theme restore and that got worse until I cant even see the menus or tool bars, even the web pages are so faded its hard to type this I did get the urls large enough to read.

Thanks for the help. I'm gonna use IE until I can figure this out. I am going to uninstall firefox and start over in a couple days. Maybe I can find in my archives a older version,

You can uninstall or disable extensions on the about:addons page or possibly start Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

You can also delete the prefs.js file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all preferences.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
