Well I am going to give you shortcuts. Honestly I have no idea which search you are talking about and using shortcuts you will at least be able to identify which you previously used so I might begin to understand the question.

So was it; Quick search (Ctrl+Shift+K) Full search (Ctrl+K) OR the venerable find (ctrl+shift+F)

Apparently it's now called a "filter" instead of a "search". I know I must seem very dense, and you probably see hundreds of questions like this, so thanks for taking the time to answer. Your response did feel a teensy bit condescending, but I can understand your frustration about people who aren't interested in memorizing keyboard shortcuts. Peace be with you. :)

It is a matter of actually identifying what you are talking about. By using the shortcuts the one you want will appear and then a discussion can occur on how to make it show "how it used to". Until then it is a case of how long is a piece of string.
