Version 102.2.2 goes "unresponsive" when I click get messages for several minutes, eventually will download one or two emails, but they are ones I have already deleted, and occur multiple times. Can I go back to version 91? Where can I get the install file? Since the problem started with the update its a problem with it, not antivirus software. There are no other programs using significant cpu time while t'bird is unresponsive. This is critical, I will have to find another email program if you don't fix this soon.

Tried 102.2.0,102.2.1, they didn't fix the problem. 91.13.0 wouldn't install without recreating my profile. 120.0.1 does appear to work ok. note it is 102.2.2 that is working on my 2017 laptop.

You can switch back to 102.2.1 which can be easily downloaded from the releases page. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/

That's the url for 102.2.1 https://download.mozilla.org/?product=thunderbird-102.2.1-SSL&os=win64&lang=en-US

I also have disabled the automatic update for now so that I stay on 102.2.1 until a bugfixed version is released.

al-firefox, thanks for the URLs but 102.2.1 doesn't work either on my 2007 system. It does work on a more recent(2017) laptop.

Thanks for all the details. But this last sentence is confusing to me. Are you saying the machine which has the original problem - lets call it "A" - is NOT the 2017 laptop? And 102.2.2 does not work on A, but 102.0.1 des to work?

If machine A has a problem, what is different about that setup? Does it have the exact same address book(s)?

You might try https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/candidates/102.3.0-candidates/build1/win64/en-US/Thunderbird%20Setup%20102.3.0.exe which is about to be released, it has an performance fix.

I would be interested in your results.

Unfortunuately, this is not a true, nor even logical statement, so I'm going to state this even though I don't believe AV is the problem here. Various AV can break or cause problems with a new version of some other software. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues documents some of them.

The Laptop runs fine on 102.2.2, the problem was my older(2006) desktop. It now runs fine on 102.0.1. I took the URL given by al-firefox and just substituted different version numbers until I found one that works. I wasn't able to find downloads for anything but 102.2.2 by searching. when I found something describing another version it just downloaded 102.2.2. Frustrating. So why does 102.0.1 work when none of the 102.2 versions do?
