Is there any way to make it so YouTube stops having its videos stutter and freeze a bit whenever I watch them via Firefox on my PC? I've tried doing everything I can. I have turned off smooth scrolling, enabled V-Sync for Firefox using Nvidia Control Panel, and much more. Nothing has helped so far. I have even used other browsers but they have issues too. And, my frames aren't dropping at all which is even weirder since it kind of feels like that is also what may be happening here. If anyone can help, please do so! Thanks!

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Hi Hopz0510,

This may sound counterproductive, but I would try disabling Hardware acceleration in your settings.

Depending on your computers resources, i.e. RAM, CPU, GPU, etc., sometimes having this setting enabled will cause video playback problems.

In Firefox, go to options(Windows)/preferences(Linux) and towards the bottom of the General settings you'll see "Performance". Uncheck the "Use recommended performance settings" and below that uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available". Link to instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-disable-hardware-acce...

It is a similar setting in Chrome. Hope that does it.

I did the things you two suggested and it still stutters. I'm starting to think my PC may just have issues of its own since it's a hand-me-down from a family member of mine. Plus, it took me months to make it so it could game and run many types of programs that should or would be compatible. I am planning to possibly replace this PC as a result and I have the money, but I don't know if I want to since this is the only issue I've encountered recently.

MemTest LAST UPDATED : 27/09/2013 Could you please run a tool from http://memtest.org/ in order to check the integrity of your RAM?

You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.
