endless daily notices of failed delivery on Thunderbird

For the past 2 weeks I get a DAILY, sometimes twice daily, notification from something called mailer-daemon@comcast.net about a "Temporary" delivery failure. The messages consists of endless lines of gibberish (meaningless to me, I'm not a computer expert), about a supposed failed delivery to an apparently nonexistent site called "info@biofiore.com". Perhaps I've been spammed, perhaps I accidentally hit the wrong button on a spam email. How many times do I need to be told?

Is there some way I can stop this plague? Is there some way to tell mailer-daemon@comcast.net to stop this bombardment? It's meaningless and unwelcome. Is there a way to disable mailer-daemon@comcast.net for good? "Daemon" is an accurate description of this pestilence. Your help would be gratelfully appreciated.

Spam could be masquerading as a delivery failure notice to trick you. Whatever you do, don't click on any links in that supposed notification. If your account is truly sending emails to that address, then the notification should include the message that bounced back. You should examine that message to figure out what it entails, exercising caution of course.

You can block the sender of that message, or you can use filters to handle them. You can also mark it as junk. The following articles should help you choose the best option for you.

Sounds like backscatter. A spammer used your email address as From: address, and now you're getting the undeliverable notifications for non-existent recipient addresses.

It will stop at some point. For the time being you can create a filter to delete them.

Agree with everything that Stans and christ1 have said.

I have experienced this some time ago. Spammer abused my email address and when server cannot deliver because the sent to email address does not exist, it will return email notification to the only FROM email address it knows, which is yours. Never respond to anything contained therein. The only silver lining in this is at least it has made you aware that some nefarious person is using your email address to spam people.

I would advise your contacts that someone has been abusing your email address. I would also say to them that any email sent from will have your signature at the bottom and make the signature use a specific font or italize it etc so it looks more unique and not like general text. This will help people to know the email really is from you.

As a precaution, I would also advise you make sure you do not have any malware on your computer that could be collecting keystrokes etc. Start computer in Safe Mode and then run scan.

To all who replied to my query, thanks, I was able to fix the problem using filters and other options. The annoying failed delivery notices have stopped completely.
