This message started appearing yesterday "Login to server imap.talktalk.net with username hellas@talktalk.net failed." Now I cannot send or receive emails. I have tried suggested solutions without success. Windows 8 laptop.

Are you able to logon to your webmail account via a browser? This would prove your current password is ok.
Also checked to see if other reports and found this:
