lost emails after update

Hi, opened mozilla thuderbird to check my mails then got massage mozilla thuderbird is updating, so let it up date, then it asked me to sign in as if i downloaded first time, resulting in all my emails lost ,pretty p.... off! using windows 7 anyone else have this problem? thanks

Hi Try the process described here- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared Hopefully your profile is still there, just Thunderbird has redirected to a new profile.

Hi thanks for advice but cant make out what to do with it, think i found another profile from 8/1/19 when i downloaded thunderbird but what to do with it?

Ok, having found the profile you need, there are some options to recover it (that is, to tell Thunderbird which profile to use). http://kb.mozillazine.org/Moving_your_profile_folder_-_Thunderbird This explains how to do this using profile manager, and also two other methods for recovering your profile. Please read all the sections and choose the method you are most comfortable with. It is wise to save a copy of the profile you believe is the right one before you try anything. Good luck, Agnes

Thanks for your help, but not sure if its profile folder i have, but after reading the guide found it to confusing for me, will have to look for another software to get emails, to lose all your emails because of a update which it didn't give me any choice to do makes thuderbird to unreliable.

Perhaps this will help. It is my take on the update mess with profiles. Recovery is simple, but you have to know how. I did get the mass release delayed by weeks (and the 64 bit release pulled for a time) over these issues and most of them have been fixed.
