Since Firefox version 52, several of the pages I visit (Patreon, Humble Bundle, etc) do not load correctly.

While I'm not 100% sure if this is firefox's fault, it seems likely that with Firefox version 52, despite their claims that everything would be fine, several pages I visit do not properly load in Firefox. For example, parts of Patreon and Humble Bundle that I was able to see previously and can still load in other browsers will not fully load. If this is due to Firefox version 52, what's the fix? I did a full clear of cookies, everything and the pages still won't load. Should I just abandon Firefox for the time being, possibly forever? Is this a problem on those sites end? Thanks for any help!

I'm using Version 53, on Windows 10 and have * Shockwave Flash 25.0 r0 installed

Hi, delete ALL references to the websites in question, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the sites (not from old bookmarks) again. Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the deletion.

If that doesn't help, it may be a Multi-process issue: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down and look for 'browser.tabs.remote.autostart' and 'browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2' If either or both exist, double click on either or both, to change 'Value' from True to False, then restart Firefox. More - Configuration Editor for Firefox.

Failing that, try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. Thank you!
