I have just setup Thunderbird and it seems to work fine. when I login it asks me to to enter my password and if I follow the instructions, I am in, fine. But if I just cancel without entering my password 4 times I am in as well. Is there an settings I need to change so I can not open my mail without my password? I am using Windows 11

After upgrading from Mint 21.3 to 22.3, Thunderbird no longer offers me the option of setting email alerts for events. Details: - I have Provider for Google Calendar installed - I've tried adding my calendar as "Google calendar" and "On the network" but neither offers email alerts. (On the network works better for responding to invitations.) My current work-around is to go to the google calendar app on my phone and set an email alert after creating the event in Thunderbird. That works but is a pain. This worked before. I suspect it's more a configuration issue and less a Mint version issue.

I changed my password and added a PIN to my gmail account and even thought I get the prompt and allow access it doesn't work and keeps asking for it again. Say that it's the wrong email or password. I did delete the old password in the stored passwords but it didn't help. Whether I use my password or the PIN when connecting to google and then chose to allow access to Thunderbird it just keeps asking to grant access again.

Hello Thunderbird. I have used the product for years across Win95, Win7. I have graphics trouble with Win10 after an update last year. Some times the email text has strange colours and the odd missing character. Opening an attachment always has funny yellow or green chunky background. Zoom +/- cures this. See attachments. The display driver is AMD Radeon graphics. 504MB used. Single screen. The processor is AMD A10-9700 Radeon R7, 10 Compute cores. 8GB RAM The machine is a standard out of the box HP Pavilion PC 570. Hello dear forum Here are the details: Account type: Microsoft Exchange (via OWL) Antivirus software and firewall used: Bitdefender I have the following problem: I copied the mbox files from the active account (profile) to Local Folders (as described in some forums), both with and without *.msf files (seems this makes no difference to the problem). Then I start Thunderbird, and all folders and subfolders appear in Local Folders. However, when I go into one of these copied folders or subfolders, it only displays a single email. The copied folder is the same size as the original, but no other emails are displayed, and this is repeated in every subfolder. I employed the repair function with no result. The import/export tool NG only copies half of the emails. The total is 4.25 GB. I can only copy the emails manually via copy/paste, but this is very error-prone and takes a very long time. Has anyone had experience copying mbox files and managed to do it successfully? I would be very grateful for any advice.

My recollection is that prior to a recent automatic update to Thunderbird 140.12.1esr (64-bit) when I had a message composition window open, there were "SEND" button and possibly a "SEND LATER" button (to the left of the addressee and cc addresses in addition to the keyboard shortcuts (CTRL ENTER and CTRL SHIFT ENTER).

Following the update, there is no longer anything to the left of the addressee information. I have checked the toolbar menus, and there do not appear to be any button options. I can still send messages, but the lack of the buttons is a hindrance.

I have been using thunderbird for years now with no issues at all. within the last month or so i started getting errors that my outgoing pw was incorrect. Then things seemed ok for a bit and as of today I just cant send anything at all. It will download mail just fine. But absolutely will not send.

  After checking all the settings, as shown below, and triple verifying everything is correct for the server and settings, ports etc.  I cant figure this out.  I have the exact same settings in my iphone mail and it downloads and sends mail just fine.  I can send an email from the phone and get it on my desktop through thunderbird, but i can not send anything back...  Both have had the same settings for years.  But the thunderbird app just decided it no longer wants to accept my outgoing password.  I have deleted the saved password within thunderbird and even after re entering it when the popup comes up, it just refuses to accept it.  I have a feeling this may have been one of the prior TB updates???
   Here are some images.  Can anyone help figure this out please... It's driving me bonkers

Quick Filter does not return correct results in Unified Inbox (Thunderbird 140.12.0 ESR)

I'm using Thunderbird **140.12.0 ESR (aarch64)** and believe I've found an issue with the Quick Filter when searching the **Unified Inbox**.

    • Steps to reproduce:**

1. Open the **Unified Inbox**. 2. Open the Quick Filter bar. 3. Enter a search term (e.g. "maddy").

    • Observed behaviour in the Unified Inbox:**
  • With no "Filter messages by" options selected, entering a search term does not filter the message list.
  • Selecting **Sender**, **Recipients** and **Subject** still does not return the expected email.
  • Selecting **Body** changes the results after a delay, but the expected email is still **not** returned.

If I open the **actual Inbox** containing that same email and repeat the search:

  • The expected email is found using **Sender**, **Recipients** and **Subject**.
  • When **Body** is selected, the search takes longer and eventually returns additional matching messages, including the expected email.

This behaviour is reproducible with multiple search terms and suggests that the Quick Filter does not search the **Unified Inbox (virtual folder)** correctly, even though the same search works in the underlying physical folder.

Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue or a bug?

Got a new macbook, did migration from the old to the new. Thunderbird failed to migrate. The icon on the desktop did, but it is not listed in the application list. Both are running the same software version, Tahoe 26.5.2. Talked to Apple, they tried to help, but in the end, they answered that it wasn't their software, so contact Thunderbird. Thoughts??? I keep email tabs open if I am going to have to reference the email for some reason -- shipping product tracking emails, legal documents, threads of conversations that are ongoing. Every so often, Thunderbird decides to open with all of the tabs blank. It's unrecoverable, and I have to search each of the tabs I really needed to open up again after spending time X ing the blank ones.

I've been filing about this bug for years now. Mostly what I get is a bored moderator/mentor telling me why that isn't a priority, and how I should change my emailing behavior. I just lost track of several legal documents and am anticipating working for hours to get them back on top.

I'm very sick of it.

I have a particular need to periodically run junk mail filters on a folder in Local Folders that I know will contain mostly junk mail. According to a search engine, the command to do filtering on particular folders should come up in a junk mail tab when you right click on a folder and look under properties. When I right click on a folder, however, I never see a junk mail tab under properties or anywhere else. Where to I find the command to do junk mail filtering on a specific folder? Greatly appreciate any assistance.

Downloading messages is now noticeably slower on an older desktop if the 'Inbox' folder is selected/focus. If focus is changed to a different folder (i.e. 'Sent') the message downloads become blazing fast.

Deleting messages seems slower as well and I think it is related. May involve inserting/deleting entries in the grid.

End user here, with Thunderbird for years, now on several machines that I use. Keep getting the warning window about "ESR" change. I have no wish to re-install Thunderbird, on each machine, nor to go beyond the normal updates. Can't tell which "channel" I need to choose. Unwilling to just guess. Could re-install on all five machines, if that's truly necessary. Hope not. An explanation of the simplest way to dispose of this issue, is the help I'm looking for. I think I'm currently set to the lower case address. And arranged such that each machine updates to the current content.

I got an eMail notification about an upcoming update for Thunderbird snap/flatpak configs, but I don't see any entry for Thunderbird in my "~/.var/app/" directory. There is an entry for Firefox, but nothing for Thunderbird. Yet Thunderbird still updates regularly and successfully.

What should I do, in order to conform to the eMail notification instructions?

Running the command "snap info thunderbird" returns the following --

For five or so days, when I go to send an email on my iMac, I get a message saying SMTP server won't send it. If I go to webmail, it sends, and if I use my iPhone it sends. Rogers/shaw has walked me through testing and nothing is wrong their end. Is anyone else having this problem?
