opened firefox saturday and screen was totally different than what i had. guess it updated, but not returned to my profile. have tried to open my profile and succeeded, but can't get it to come on automatically when i open firefox again. how do i open the profile i want and then keep it opened?

A pop-up suggested that I use profiles to organize and it sounded like a great idea but then after making profile I was having trouble getting tabs from one page to another. Then I discovered that I had to log in my accounts onto every profile I made and it sounded like a terrible idea, so I tried deleting all my profiles to get it to revert but now that I open the browser it shows me to make a new Profile. So, I want to know how can I revert back to using Firefox Without the use of profiles like I was before clicking the pop-up

FF 148.0, Intel Mac, current 15.7.4 (Sequoia)

In the middle of a browsing session I needed to consult my substantial browsing history and found it to be gone. I quit FF using the dropdown and restarted. After restarting FF the browsing history showed only that session and the TST sidebar with many tabs didn't display so I concluded FF created a new profile for startup but using my home page. I have the profile in use at the time (profile_a) and a month old backup of it. profile_a seems to have all the expected data and the bookmarks are correct. I've hacked around within Profile Groups and profiles.ini but FF refuses to use profile_a in spite of my edits, and worse is silent about it so I'm stuck and need help.

Possible related issue: is TST sensitive to the number of tabs? I'm a hoarder and find TST easier to use than bookmarks so had about 700 tabs stashed in TST.

New OS LMDE7 (trixie debian 13 base) Installed Firefox from the Mozilla Firefox Debian Package mozilla-debian- 1.0 Firefox 148.0

I've just installed LMDE7 alongside LMDE6 and want to move the 6 profile into 7. I've exported the 6 profile into backup and then moved it into the new Firefox Home folder (\home\...\.config\mozilla\firefox) Found both profile.in and installs.ini there AND many different profiles. (I had tried to use the profile manager and seem to have created lots of profiles beside the default-release from 7. Installs.ini shows both the original profile from the 7 install and one created with the Profile Manager and both are locked. They are also in profile.ini as installed.

So my Question is how do I install the old profile into profile.ini?

I believe Firefox invited me to add another partition to my Firefox system I do not like it, finding it interferes with my normal operation of daily events and also transfers unasked from my primary partition making, for instance emails l seeking a reply.

It induced me to create a new profile. Then, I lost the old one. Who even knew about profiles? Firefox is now filling in passwords, among other serious setting changes I did not make. This is the worst experience I ever had with a browser. Firefox has been my steady for decades, always dependable and easy to manage. I think we broke up today.

I don't know if it was a glitch in a recent update or something else, but every time I close a Firefox browser and then open a new one, it takes me through setting up Firefox EVERY time and changes my toolbar setting and erases my extensions. HELP!

My toolbar disappeared in January very disappointed because I don't want to take my computer to the fix it man here in town when It was not something I did but rather came with an update.

I have a question about deleting a Firefox profile. When I access the profile screen via "about:profiles," I see two profiles: "default-release" and "Default User." The "default-release" profile is fine because it displays the message "This is the active profile and cannot be deleted." But is it okay to delete the "Default User" profile? Should I also delete the files in the root directory of the C: drive and the local directory? If I delete the "Default User", will it be deleted as well?

While transferring data from the old profile manager system to the new one, I accidentally created one more profile than I needed. I have tried to delete the extra profile on multiple occasions, it won't go away. I have attempted to delete it through the profile management ui, and I went into the files and delete the associated data. On both occasions, the profile remained in the UI. I am unable to edit anything about the profile either. Is there anything I can do to resolve this annoyance?

Mozilla made an update of my Firefox installation on my Win11 laptop. all my password disappeared as well as my history and bookmarks.

I have now a virgin installation and is starting from scratch.

Now I get this error message: "This profile was last used with a newer version of this application. Please create a new profile." I deleted met shortcut and I opened Firefox by using Windows search. Now I see 4 profiles! I think I do not need to create a new profile. Maybe delete 3 of them ? What to do ? And, how?

bold text Firefox has been my browser forever. When I tried to open it this morning I was invited to create a profile, so no profile, no Firefox..... I've never had to do this before and am reluctant because of the apparent threat of losing all my passwords and bookmarks. I'm 85 years of age so don't need this complication. Any help would be appreciated, complicated high tech answer will probably be beyond me. Brian.

I have an issue where the following operations with the "new" profile manager don't work: - setting up a new profile (about:newprofile in the new profile is just blank) (a new profile gets created though) - deleting a profile (about:newprofile is just blank) - editing any profile that is not the original profile (about:editprofile is just blank) (works with the original profile) - the select profile interface from the account or menu button is blank when opening it from any profile that is not the original profile

What works tho is calling about:profilemanager from any profile. From there any profile can be selected and switched to.

I'm using the Bazzite (Linux distro that is Fedora based). I'm fairly new to Linux so that could be a issue, the problem was there from the get-go though and since Firefox was preinstalled I don't believe I could've messed up much.

Firefox version is 147.0.4 Bazzite version is 43.20260211.0 (Kinoite)

Reboot doesn't fix these issues. Uninstalled Firefox with deleting user data, installed it again and same behavior appears again.

I also tried installing a Firefox fork (Waterfox). It had the same issues.

I would appreciate any help and would be willing to share more detailed date if it helps somebody help me.

I have a profile that I had copied from my main profile, which is connected to an email and synced. This second profile is unsynced, and it won't let me sign into my account because that account is connected to the main profile. It says I need a separate account for a separate profile. Fair enough. I try to make an account. It says I cannot sign in to the new account because the profile is synced to the old one. Very annoying to be given instructions that don't work. So, I make a new profile and sign in to my new account on it. It works. But now I don't have my bookmarks and passwords. So I find instructions on backing up my account and copy my secondary profile into the new profile with the new account. It logs me out and is now giving me the same error! (the backup was successful though) I don't want to have to copy and paste all of my passwords and things into a new account. Is there any way to make my secondary profile syncable?

firefox on mac seems entirely broken.

in about:profiles I see 1 profile (with custom name). after restart the profile is still there, but all settings lost( Passwords, links, addons )

the same as happened before: I restarted the computer for update. than there were multiple profiles in about data. i got cunfused an in the end i deleted firefox entirely and reinstalled.
