To use all the latest features and keep your information safe and secure, it's a good idea to update to the newest version of Firefox for Android. Firefox for Android lets you know when an update is available through Google Play, but you can also check it manually. Follow the steps below to find out what version you're using, and ways to update it if needed.
The minimum Android version required to install or update Firefox for Android and Firefox Focus (in their Nightly release channels) is Android 8.0. For more information, see Raising the minimum Android version for Firefox.
Check your version of Firefox
- Tap the menu button
- Tap .
- Scroll down to the About section and tap .
The version number will appear underneath the Firefox logo.
Update via Google Play
The easiest way to update Firefox is via Google Play, here you can see if your version is out of date and update it.
- Open the Google Play Store app on your device and tap the menu in the upper left.
- Tap to see your list of installed apps.
This list indicates which apps need to be updated. Firefox will appear in the Updates list if an update is available. - Tap the corresponding button to initiate the update.
If Google Play is not available in your region, update Firefox through the appropriate app marketplace in your country.
