Firefox now lets you search the web using images instead of text, with Google Lens. This makes it easy to identify objects, translate text, or find visually similar results directly from an image.

This feature is gradually rolling out and is currently available in the US, the UK, Germany, Japan and Poland.

Enable Google Lens in Firefox

Google Lens only works in Firefox if Google is set as your default search engine.

1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button and select Settings.
2. Go to the Search panel.
3. Under Default Search Engine, choose Google from the dropdown menu.

Once set, Google Lens will be automatically enabled.

Use Google Lens to search with an image

After setting Google as your default search engine, you can search with any image using Google Lens.

1. Right-click on any image in Firefox.
2. Select Search image with Google Lens from the context menu.

Firefox will open the image in a new tab.

What you can do with Google Lens in Firefox

Once you search with an image using Google Lens, you can:

• Select specific parts of the image to search
• Identify objects or products
• Translate text in the image
• Copy or highlight text
• Run a search using selected text

It's like using Google Lens on your phone, but it is built into Firefox on your computer.
