I recently tried reinstalling Thunderbird after our laptop was fixed and upgraded. Everytime I get to entering the details it tells me my password is incorrect - I know its correct as I can access it via a different site.

I HATE using outlook as it will not remember email addresses and I miss Thunderbird.

How do I get past this issue when I KNOW my password is correct??

The recommended settings are mailx.freeparking.co.nz for the incoming and outgoing servers, port 995 for POP, 993 for IMAP and 465 for SMTP. Authentication = encrypted password, connection security = SSL/TLS, User name = email address.

Maybe you have 'normal password' for the authentication, which is far more common than 'encrypted'. I would also disable your antivirus while setting up the account, as they sometimes interfere with secure connections.

That error message sometimes appears if you have some other setting that's incorrect, or you need to enter an app password if 2-step verification is applied to the account, or you need a 'secure mail key' (AT&T) etc. State the mail provider and we'll see if we can find the correct procedure.
