Why can't I get Firefox search engine? All the optional ones aren't useable to me; they're just impossible to use. I'm a 80 year old lawyer and I've had enough of IOS upgrades, which have destroyed all my photos and my prior confidence in Apple products. Will return to Dell for new laptop tomorrow. If I can find a clean search engine that hasn't sold out, I will use that. I have wasted probably 100 hours trying to get upgraded iOS usable to me. I have an old Dell xp laptop I'm going to dust off and use. Once I got an iMac, I never thought I'd say that. Thanks, mr. Cook. I really miss Steve jobs. Sorry you didn't get that pancreatic surgery. May you rest in peace.

Mozilla does not operate its own search engine, but you have a lot of other choices.

Firefox for iOS has DuckDuckGo on the U.S. English version that I've used, but a couple months ago users of other language versions said it was not yet available on theirs. I don't know whether that has been updated by now.

Could you try the steps in this article and let me know if it works: Change your default search engine in Firefox for iOS.

If you can't wire up the address bar to your favorite search engine, then you'll have to take the extra step of going to the site to use it. A bookmark might help: How to add, remove, edit and move bookmarks in Firefox for iOS.
