Mozilla's Recent Implementation of Control of Firefox's Website Add-Ons/Permissions <"Page Info window"> @ Address Bar . . . (GASP!)

I've read, reread, printed out, perused ad infinitum the Mozilla article concerning the content of the above-mentioned, all to no avail. To state that the control over website "permissions" is a frustration, heartache, and dismal failure for the end user, is an understatement!

Adobe Flash Player (v.21.0.0.197) crashes continuously! Firefox (v.45.0.1) crashes continuously! Shockwave Player application crashes also. My online experience has become intolerable and, because the predominate use of my PC is used online, this misery is of paramount importance that relief be sought and applied ASAP! This issue has gone on long enough, for over a year plus! HELP!

The article explaining all related is of no value whatsoever. One cannot permanently set options; once a website is given permission, a function should be available to make it permanent! I the entire program is a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(GASP . . . H-E-L-P???

Let's start with Flash:

Unresponsive script errors:

Firefox not responding:

Permissions issue -- you wrote:

  • What permission is Firefox not remembering?
  • How soon is the permission forgotten? If it is forgotten when you exit Firefox and start it up again, that would lead to a different potential diagnosis than when you restart Windows or something random.

I have written innumerable references here, in detail, as to what has been occurring to-date, and each time I have done so (three times already) the text disappears. Only the attachments remain! OMG!

I don't know why the original posting was marked as solution found! Obviously, it is not true.

Question: Although my preferred Firefox in my default browser, I have Internet Explorer on-board as well, as is required by Microsoft/Windows System requirements for online functioning, and I have wondered if AFP/Shockwave should be downloaded for IE as well?

Please note that the entirety of my Add-Ons and Plugins, are up-to-date, as well as Firefox 46.0.1. I installed Windows last month.

HELP??!?!?!

Hi SweetFacz3913, to answer your latest question, if you plan to use Flash in IE, then you should keep the ActiveX control for IE up-to-date as well.

But I assume your "HELP??!?!?!" is related to your original questions. How far did you get in working through my earlier suggestions?

Please note that the two Flash crashes are in the external component used by the Protected Mode feature. If you have not already disabled that feature, please do so now. You can do that using the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, find "Shockwave Flash" and click the More link. Then uncheck the box for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and try that for a day to see whether it helps.

Note: All Flash must be unloaded for at least 3 minutes before that change takes effect. Since Flash can be used invisibly, it might not take effect until the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again.
