why are the disable/enable javascript addons unable to install on FF17 for android but OK for FF17 desktop?
I tried the various mobile versions of nojs, noscript & quickjs addons so I can have a button to do the disable/enable easily like on the desktop. The installs fail claiming that they are not compatible with FF17; so why are the desktop versions working with the FF17 desktop?
Is the error legitimate? I have the 4.2 jellybean android in the Acer Iconic A700 which is just an A500 with 1920x1080 resolution.

The Android Firefox is for mobile devices yes whether it be phones or tablets. The mobile named link was a legacy link for when the mobile Firefox was at version 10.0.* and earlier as those versions were the old "XUL" version of Mobile Firefox. Starting with mobile Firefox 14.0 and newer (the 11.0, 12.0, 13.0 were Beta builds) the user interface is now built with the Android UI framework instead of the cross-platform XUL framework so the extensions need to be updated.
mbrubeck filed a couple bugs to replace the mobile link with the android link in Other Applications menu after I mentioned this to him as it was overlooked. For reading Bug#824314 and Bug#825048
Currently Android (2.2+) is the only mobile OS Mozilla provides Firefox on at moment anyways.

The Extensions (to be specific) for the Android Firefox are listed in https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/ as the ones listed at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/ is for the old mobile Firefox 10.0.* and earlier.

Thank you for the info on the "android" addon page.
My Acer A700 is an android tablet. I thought that a tablet is considered a "mobile" device? or is "mobile" restricted to the cell phones as the acknowledged terminology? Are eReaders also non-mobile devices?
If there a tablet is not a mobile device, then there should be an area that is labeled "tablet" or "android" (but that would be confusing to android phone users); tablet would cover ipads.
I see only 2 obvious areas in Mozilla, desktop & mobile; perhaps a newer category will evolve in the future.

I guess that's it then. I had used the same extension for linux as the one for windows & it worked. That was the reason for this question as it was felt that as the extension worked for the different platforms, it was also thought that it would work for my tablet.
The android page does represent the applications better and/or having the "mobile" area annotated.
Oh well, perhaps someone knowledgeable will see fit to redo the disable/enable javascript some time in the future.
