Websites don't update to their current live page automatically

As title suggests, Firefox mobile just isn't updating to the current live homepage. My Samsung internet does this and since I just updated to an iPhone, my previous Firefox for iOS did this fine, but since I switched to a S10+, the website will be exactly the same from the last time I've visited it. (NYT, WSJ, etc). I have to manually go to the address bar and click go with every single website for it to be showing the current page and not yesterday's or the earlier morning version of the website. I am using the latest Firefox and have tried beta, nightly. This is such an odd problem.

I have been experiencing and following this problem for most of this year, so I can confirm that there is a FF Android page "RE"Load problem.

The following recreates the problem;

  • Always using currently updated versions of FF Android
  • Example using http://www.cnn.com
  • Browse CNN Home Page
  • <tap> an article
  • Allow the article to load
  • <tap> "<back>" (the android "back" arrow) 
  (not sure if the "www" is a factor
  since it is added automatically)

When FF returns to https://www.cnn.com the page displayed is not the page where the link had been tapped, but one that had been previously browsed... sometimes days ago.

I assume that FF is loading the page from cache, and assuming that the current page has been cached, but it has not, so FF retrieves an old page.
