Why does the preview URL change after I right-click and "Copy Link Location"?

I am using Firefox 50.1.0 for Ubuntu (canonical - 1.0).

When I "mouseover" a link, the preview URL initially does not show the same URL I get when I right-click and "Copy Link Location". But after I right-click and copy link location, the preview URL matches. In particular, after a Google search, the preview URL's misleadingly show the destination one might expect from the link. But when I copy the link location, I find that I am really linking back to Google.

I expect at least a warning from Firefox that the displayed URL does not match the copied URL. I would prefer that the preview URL shows the real link URL, and not what the web developer wanted to show me.
