Hello,

After a recent Firefox update, I started experiencing a rendering issue on several web platforms based on GPSWOX.

The problem occurs in the top area of the page, near the logo/navbar. The configured background color for this area is white, and it initially displays correctly. However, when I move the mouse over the logo/navbar area, the background changes to blue, which appears to be the expected hover effect. The problem happens when I move the mouse away: instead of returning to the configured white background, part of the area becomes black.

This behavior did not occur before and started after a Firefox update.

I performed several tests to determine whether the issue was related to the website, cache, profile, extensions, or Firefox settings:

The issue occurs on four different GPSWOX platforms that I use. I also tested an unrelated third-party GPSWOX platform, and the same behavior occurs there. The same websites work correctly in Google Chrome. I cleared cookies, cache, and site data. I tested in a Private Browsing window. I tested Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. I created a completely new Firefox profile, without synchronization, extensions, or previous settings. The issue still occurs with the new profile. I also changed the Firefox “Website appearance” setting between “System” and “Light”, with no difference.

When inspecting the affected element using Firefox Developer Tools, the logo area uses the following class:

.navbar-brand

Firefox correctly reports the computed style as:

background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);

In other words, even while part of the area is visually rendered as black, Firefox Developer Tools still reports the element background as white.

I also inspected the ::before and ::after pseudo-elements. The inspected ::after contains only typical Bootstrap clearfix properties, such as:

content: " "; display: table; clear: both;

I could not find any background-color rule in these pseudo-elements that would explain the black area.

The issue was initially present in Firefox 155.0.1. I have now updated to Firefox 156, and the behavior remains exactly the same.

Environment:

Windows 11 Firefox 156 The issue was also present in Firefox 155.0.1 Google Chrome is not affected Multiple GPSWOX-based websites reproduce the same issue A completely new Firefox profile also reproduces the issue

Because the issue occurs on multiple independent GPSWOX installations, including a third-party platform, also occurs with a clean Firefox profile, and does not occur in Chrome, I suspect this may be a Firefox rendering or compositing regression related to hover states, Bootstrap navbar elements, or GPU rendering.

The most unusual part is that Firefox Developer Tools continues to report the expected white background color while the affected area is visually displayed as black.

I would like to know whether this is a known issue in recent Firefox versions or if there is any Firefox setting that could cause this behavior.

I can provide screenshots and additional Developer Tools information if needed.

If you attach images, I’d use one screenshot showing the black area after moving the mouse away, and another showing DevTools reporting:

background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);

That contrast is probably the strongest evidence in the report.
