How do I save keywords in the search bar in a new tab so that I can search using more than one search engine sequentially without having to type keywords anew?

How do I save keywords in the search bar in a new tab so that I can search using more than one search engine sequentially without having to type keywords anew? After searching using Google, when I use the back function, the keywords I entered before are not there. When I begin typing, the prior keywords appear in dropdown menu but when I click on this it takes me back to Google, when what I would like to do is repeat the search with a different search engine.

You can copy the query part to the clipboard and then type a different keyword and a space and paste the query content you copied to the clipboard.

Keyword search only works in the location/address bar and not in the search bar in case you use the real search bar and not the location bar.

In the location bar you can also initiate a search with a search engine via the '@' symbol.

Hi 886426, I don't know why the search bar in the new tab page is empty when you go "Back". There must be some code in the page for that, but why??

Perhaps the only bar that definitely retains your query terms regardless of what happens in the tab is Firefox's optional "search bar". More info in this article: Add the Search bar to your Firefox toolbar.
