Running Firefox 45.0.1 on Windows 10 Anti-virus: Avira Anti-Virus Free Firewall: same

As stated, Firefox is not saving my passwords (or form information or maintaining Sync connection). I HAVE already read through the FAQs and other community questions and answers. I do have a Master Security password. I do know the password. But passwords are not being saved. I cannot find any other software that would interfere with this. I cannot find any setting in my anti-virus/firewall software (Avira) that has anything to do with this Firefox function. I am NOT using any other password saving software or extension or other application. There is no issue with the password manager exceptions file.

I do NOT have a problem with password saving on my Win XP PC. I DO HAVE SYNC SETUP AND TURNED ON but this does not populate the password manager on the Win 10 PC. It does sync everything else (although not all extensions seem to be configured to share all setup data and usage information, particularly tab group extensions).

Also, on the Win 10 machine, it periodically loses the Sync connection. This is very annoying. How do I prevent this? It never happens on the Win XP computer.

Also, on the Win 10 machine, it does not seem to populate form data boxes (name, address, email address, etc.) when I visit websites. Why? Is this also a Firefox issue or is this an issue with the individual websites? It doesn't seem to happen very often on the Win XP computer.

Please help.

Please take care. Please consider backing up profile data before removing appdata, or you WILL lose information.

SOLVED via thorough Firefox uninstall (including all folders and profiles which a "regular" uninstall does not remove) and Sync with my Firefox account. *Thanks* (not really) for the top-level support.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Thanks but that is also not the source of the problem. I almost never use private browsing and both of my computers have the same options checked (including "Remember History") and only the Win 10 PC is having this problem. Sync is SUPPOSED to be syncing passwords but it isn't (but it does seem to sync everything else).

Are you syncing the passwords?

Do you see passwords in the Password Manager and are those filled, either automatically or by selecting a name via the drop-down list?

You can also look at this extension in case there is a problem with the login form.

YES. EVERYTHING is set to Sync. EVERYTHING. ("Sync is SUPPOSED to be syncing passwords but it isn't (but it does seem to sync everything else,") But it is not syncing passwords

After entering a username/email address and password on a website login page, and hitting <Enter>, I get the Firefox "save password" dialogue box, click that I want to save the password. But when I check in Firefox Preferences > Security , the saved logins window is blank.

ALL of the settings are the same on both computers but only the Win XP computer is saving the login information.

Yeah, thanks, a day late and a dollar short. Backing up is great BEFORE you have a problem but doesn't help AFTER you have a problem. AND I ALREADY SOLVED THE PROBLEM AND POSTED THE SOLUTION BEFORE YOU CAME ALONG.

I posted those links so you can backup your data and be prepared if it should happen again
