how can we set tab behaviour so that any new tab will be added to the right of the window
Hi, I have been using Firefox a lot in the past, mostly on macOS, without too much of a problem. A couple of years ago converted to chrome-based browser, not entirely sure, but I think it was mainly due to a couple of chrome add-ons that at that time I could not find a Firefox equivalent for.
I recently switched back to primarily using Firefox, mainly because it more lenient on my older cpu's. (less puffing and panting and fans spinning up)
Question: I would say I'm a fairly from left to right person in the sense that I expect new tabs to appear to the right. I have recently been struggling with Firefox: - mainly: when I e.g. want to drag out a tab to a new window, or use right-click on a tab, then "Move tab to new window", what often happens is that that specific tab, while moving, takes 5 other tabs with it - how can I disable or change this behaviour? - I have also experienced quite some times, e.g. I have several FF windows, working in one of them, and doing cmd-t to open a new tag, then the new tag opens, but jumps to some weird location, all be it in that same window, but definitely not to the right of the tab where the command was issued from.
I have the followin add-ons installed: - Detach Tab - Move Tab to new window and quite a couple of other that I guess are not tab related.
Thanks for helping out!

Hi, could you try restarting into Troubleshoot Mode (from Help menu) to skip loading any extensions, and see if the tabs behave better there? New tabs should always open far right, and moving single tabs (i.e. no Shift clicks, no selection highlights across multiple tabs) should only apply to that single tab selected.
BTW:
but definitely not to the right of the tab where the command was issued from
Only links from the current page opened to new tabs open to the immediate right to that tab. If you CMD+T that new empty tab will be the last in the window, so not necessarily next to the current tab, but far right. (This can potentially be tweaked in configuration editor if you'd like to keep new tabs also close.)

Firefox does allow operating on multiple tabs at the same time through tab multi-selection. On Windows, similar to selecting files, you can combine tabs into a selection using Ctrl+click, so on Mac, I'm assuming you would use Command+click. However, it sounds like this is happening unintentionally, so I wonder whether there is a touchpad gesture or mouse move that could cause it. When multiple tabs are selected, the word Tab will be plural on the right-click context menu (Move Tabs). If you see that, you can deselect the tabs you don't want to move.
Or maybe it's something else, but that's what comes to mind.

Hi, thanks for helping out! I've tested this, and in Troubleshoot Mode tabs react as expected. I'll try to find out by enabling / disabling each one by one. I'm also searching for ways to pin / move extensions to the sidebar. Any information about that?
