What changes to about:config can I make to preserve cookies when firefox closes? I prune my list every day to the essential ones I need
Every time I close Firefox, I lose cookies for banking, financial and news access requiring me to go through a lot of effort. re-establishing cookies with painful waste of time, I am hoping a change to the config files will override user settings that delete everything when firefox closes.
Failing that, can you designate which cookies are permanent anywhere in your application?

This is not a default setting to remove site cookies upon closing. So it might be one of your customizations, and depending on which one, you might want to either look into exceptions for the functionality, or change the strategy to something working a little differently if it's not saving in principle.
I'd suggest going through these threads where the options and their functionality regarding selective data sanitization were described:
(Assuming from your other thread you're using Private Browsing — no, no site data or cookies can be stored from Private Browsing, none of the data is ever written to disk and is designed to disappear upon closing. So you're looking for a different functionality per se.)
