Links do not open in emails. Have to copy them and open in Firefox.
Since reinstalling Thunderbird and Firefox, When i get an email in my Thunderbird email listing, clicking a link does not open it so I have to copy it and open it in Firefox.

The most likely is to reset your default web browser in your operating system (in Windows, see Settings | Default Apps.) If it appears to be already set correctly, change it to another browser temporarily, then change it back to your preferred.

First, make sure FF is the default browser: FF menu > Settings > Home and startup. If it is, try this:
Go to TB menu > Settings > General
- scroll all the way down and click the 'Config editor' button on the right
- click 'Accept the risk and continue' if that appears
- search for network.protocol-handler.warn-external
- change network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http and network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https to true
Click a link in a message a couple of times. The first time, nothing may happen. The second time, either the browser should open or you should be given a choice of browsers to open.
Once it's working, set the two preferences back to false.
This does not work and as you can see I have had to copy the link to reply using Firefox.

Not sure how to do this. Can't find 'settings' in any windows listing or default apps. I'm not very technically knowledgeable for doing these things so step by step instruction required please. . .
I need to hear the answers to the above questions, especially what operating system, before I can advise you.
If Windows 10 or 11, you can find Default Apps by clicking on Windows Start Button and typing in "default". It's described in the article cited above, <https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/make-firefox-your-default-browser> .
