text goes not at cursor when writing e-mail

I experience a strange behaviour when changing the text format: Standard format is set to paragraph (dont know why...) I write several lines of text and realize that format is 'paragraph'. I mark one of the written paragraphs and change format to 'normal text'. I place the cursor in the already written text but typing goes now on top of this paragraph.

Options > Composition and turn off use paragraph instead of body text.
