Firefox 57: How do I make NEW tabs to open as the last tab?

I have been using 57 for a few days now, and I *really* don't like the way it opens new tabs next to the current tab. I want them to open as the last tab, i.e. at the end of the tab bar.

Is there a way to do this?

I have done a number of Google searches and cannot find anything, I have looked for an extension as well and haven't found one.

Go to about:config in Firefox's address bar and click the warning to proceed. Search for browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent and set to false by double clicking it.

Thank you for that. I was aware of that one. The operative word here is "related". If a new tab has the same domain as the current tab, I don't mind that it opens next to the current tab. In fact, I prefer that.

I was asking about non-related tabs. I would click a link on a page, or load a bookmark, etc, and it was always opening next to the current tab. But I want these to always open as the last tab.

Since I asked my question, I have read several places that the behavior I want is supposed to be the default behavior, which confuses me. Why was I not seeing this?

Regardless, I have since found an extension called "Tab Open/Close Control". After I installed this, I opened the options for it. I saw that the current selection was "Last Tab (default)". Again, confusing, as that's not what was happening. I selected something else, then re-selected "Last Tab", and now things are working the way I want them.

Problem solved.
