When I receive an e-mail,I have to double-click it to open it???

That is the way Thunderbird always works. If you double click the message header it opens in a tab or new window depending on how you have your options set. If you have the Message Pane turned on a message will show in the pane when you single click on the header. If your message pane got turned off press F8 to turn it back on.
