We are running IE8, Microsoft Office 2007 and Firefox 29. We have a workflow application that needs Firefox as our version of IE is too old. This application will send emails at certain points of the workflow and include a link to the task and the application. By default Outlook will open the link in IE8 but we want it to open in Firefox.

The simple solution should be to point it to Firefox first in the link, like this -

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://bam01/orchestration/handleform.jsp?fbranch=docmaster&ftask=masterview&docid=8350&fromtask=todo

If I run this from the Run command it opens Firefox and the correct page so the syntax is correct.

If I click on it in the email nothing happens. If I try it in Word, nothing happens.

We don't want to change the default browser.

Anyone any ideas how to make this work. I've looked at previous posts and the solution seems to be to change the default browser but thats not really an option. Thanks John

I think you need to associate a file type in a program on the operating system: http://www.werockyourweb.com/how-do-i-set-default-browser-outlook...
