my deleted email that I've read have suddenly stopped going into my Trash file. I want that restored

bobdi1

all of a sudden, my deleted emails are not going into my Trash file. They are not spam. They are just emails I've already read.

Again, all of a sudden I have a Spam folder which I do not need or want. I want my Trash folder back and I want to be able delete my emails into that folder.

Right now, and this is new, when I delete an email it completely disappears.

The setting that controls what happens with deleted messages is found at <Account Settings | Server Settings | Server Settings | When I delete a message...>. This is a per-account setting.

The Spam folder is a special server folder and can't be deleted, but you can remove it from the list of folders in Thunderbird. To do this, right click on the account name in the Folders list, and from the pop-up context menu choose "Subscribe...". Uncheck the box next to the Spam/Junk folder, then choose OK. Keep in mind that if the server moves anything to the Spam folder you won't see it unless you go to web mail.

If you're not using the Spam folder feature, it's probably best to turn off the setting <Settings | Privacy & Security | Spam | When messages are marked as spam:>
