My Firefox as stopped loading websites. Other browsers work fine (IE, Chrome, etc) and other web connections work fine. When I select a site from bookmarks nothing happens and nothing is put in the URL bar. Manually typing in a URL leaves it in the URL bar but nothing else happens. There is not wait-cursor, it just continues as if I haven't done anything. Following google searches for the problem, I tried to bring up the options, nothing happens. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it's still the same. I also tried deleting the Firefox related folders in Users/*/AppData and Program Files (x86) I think there is something or things that still need to be deleted (maybe in the registry?) to do a complete virgin install. System is running under Windows 10 Pro with all updates installed.

Any help would be appreciated as I really miss Firefox and don't like Chrome. Thanks Grant

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. This helps us help you. As I have no info from your system that would help see things that cause issues.

Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved.

Reinstall : Firefox 56.0.2 is current release https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ Full Version Installer

Note : Firefox 57 Quantum release date Nov 14th https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/quantum/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

There isn't a problem with any firewall setting. Also, that wouldn't explain why I can't bring up the settings under 'options'

Stripped out functionality ... again. A new look and feel? Why? It isn't for my phone ... by the way, I hate the new firefox on my phone, too! Now I have to use a product I dispise!

Websites don't load. Extensions and addons don't work. Then the fix is to completely uninstall it, just so i can reinstall a product I don't like? Get Real! It took forever to configure and set up before. Now I have to locate replacement addons to replace the ones that that worked in the first place? How is that better?

It's slower! It doesn't load pages! My plugins don't work! The format and feel is changed yet again!

WHY???

If you want to fix it, make sure it's compatible! Otherwise, don't "fix" it!

Same problem. Since I wanted to find out what's actually broken and not just delete stuff, I tried this: - clearing cache/cookies/so on - didn't help - firewall on/off/exceptions - didn't help

When I turned off my addons (problem: anonymoX), everything worked.

Donald.the.Wizard How did you turn off your add-ons?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

You will need to restart Firefox for this to take effect so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.,) and then perform these steps:

In Firefox 54 and below:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
  3. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  4. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.

In Firefox 55 and above:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac, Linux).
  2. Select the General panel.
  3. Under Performance, uncheck Use recommended performance settings. Additional settings will be displayed.
    Fx55Performance-disableHWA
  4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
  5. Close Firefox completely and then restart Firefox to see if the problem persists.
