I just downloaded Firefox and got a confirmation email to sync my iPad. How do i use instead of safari?

What exactly do you want to achieve? Unfortunately Apple doesn't allow one to set a "default browser" like normal Operating Systems does. You have to manually open "Firefox" to use Firefox on iOS.
