I can't load ajc.com. It seems to be a problem with the http/https and the security certificate. Even when I turn off autofill, it goes to https!
I'm having a problem loading my hometown newspaper, ajc.com, using OSX 10.8, Firefox 19.0. I use HTTPS Everywhere and a few other plug-ins (Ghostery, Better Privacy, AdBlock Plus).
The first thing that comes up is a security certificate warning: "www.ajc.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names:
a248.e.akamai.net , *.akamaihd.net , *.akamaihd-staging.net
(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)"
When I add an exception, and then try to load the site, I get a 404 Error Message.
I have tried to disable the url autofill function to allow for an "http" login, but it didn't seem to solve the problem.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

you also might want to consider contacting the website admins and ask them to implement the secure site & certificate properly...
There is not much that you can do about this apart from making sure or trying to use a normal, unencrypted, http connection instead of a secure https connection.
Yup, that did it. Had to re-load the Add-ons, but that was small potatoes next to the fuss trying to figure out why that site wouldn't load.
